Cassini–Huygens
A completed mission that explored Saturn and delivered the Huygens probe to Titan.
Why it matters
The partnership combined orbital context with direct measurements at a moon's surface.
Specific hardware / deep-space probes
Overview
Cassini orbited Saturn while Huygens descended to Titan in 2005. The mission ended in 2017. Its historical discoveries should not be presented as a currently operating spacecraft feed.
Educational reference, reviewed . This page is not a live mission-status report.
How it works
The orbiter used remote-sensing and in-situ instruments to study the Saturn system. Huygens separated, entered Titan's atmosphere and transmitted measurements during descent and after landing.
Why it matters
The partnership combined orbital context with direct measurements at a moon's surface.
