The August total solar eclipse
The Moon’s umbra follows a narrow track across parts of southern Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East.
Plan the observation
2027-08-02 through 2027-08-02 · UTC calendar window · dates only, not contact times
Check the NASA map before choosing an observing site. Use a solar projector or correctly fitted front-aperture filter for partial phases.
Where to look
Totality is confined to its path. Nearby cities can experience very different eclipse depths.
Never look directly at the Sun through a telescope or binoculars without an appropriate, correctly installed solar filter specifically designed for that equipment. Read the filter guide.
