Specific hardware / launch vehicles
Overview
Saturn V belongs to the history of human lunar exploration. Its Apollo configuration used three stages, each with a different task in delivering the spacecraft to orbit and then toward the Moon.
Educational reference, reviewed . This page is not a live mission-status report.
How it works
The first stage accelerated the vehicle through early ascent. Later stages continued acceleration after separation; the third stage could restart to send the Apollo spacecraft onto a lunar trajectory.
